Hi, my name is Sarah. I am a fifth grader at Trinity Academy of Raleigh. This fall I read the book Take Your Best Shot by Austin Gutwein. In this book Austin talks about how he started Hoops of Hope to use something he loved (basketball) to help children orphaned by AIDS. I loved the idea of using what you love to make a difference. I love basketball too, so I decided that I wanted to participate in a Hoops of Hope event. There was one problem - there are no events in Raleigh. Well now I should say, there WERE no events in Raleigh. Through talking to my parents, praying and reading scripture, I came to the decision to start an event here in Raleigh. With the support of some awesome friends, my school, and my family, I am planning on putting together the first Hoops of Hope Raleigh event this coming February. I hope to see you there!About Me
